An Experimental Study on Prophetic Patch Test and Photopatch Test of Various Domestic Soaps and Its Components


Abstract
The effects of various soaps and detergents on normal skin are not well recognized yet. However, many investigators reported that some cases of housewife¢¥s eczema, Diaper Dermatitis in infants and photocontact Dermatitis may well be caused by a few components of soaps and detergents.
Concerning the unexpectable and harzadous effects of soaps and detergents on the skin, many predictive test including prophetic patch test and actual usage test had been performed by dermatologists, and at present these tests in development of new topical agents for use in therapeutics and cosmetology are widely used for the evaluation of safety of topical agent as premarketing tests.
So, author performed the prophetic patch test and photopatch test for the evaluation of irritating or sensitizing potentials of various domestic soaps and its components.
In these prophetic patch test and photopatch test, baby soap and a few kinds of its components that are specially made for baby showed almost not irritating and sensitizing effects on normal skin.
The general results of closed prophetic patch test and photopatch test on the back skin of 100 volunteers are as follows;
1) On 2% baby soap in water, (-) positive reactions showed only in 2% of all subjects.
2) On 2% baby sow: base i t water, (H-) positive reactions showed in 4% of all subjects.
3) On perfumes of Baby soap as 2% bouquet savon and 2% bouquet in olive oil, (-f-) positive reactions showed in 2% and 3% respectively, and showed in 5% and 12% of all subjects on bouquet as is.
4) On blancophore, ceres yellow and Ti02 of baby soap, no reactions were observed. 5) On control soap A and soap B, (+) positive reactions showed in 9% both and (y-+) reactions showed in 2% on soap A.
6) On photopatch test study, any kinds of soaps and its components did not showed reactions.
